End of the summer!

Can't believe this is the end of August already. Our summer has been really different for weather. We have had 70's in August! We have had a few days when it has been really hot and humidity but then it cools down.

A couple pictures of the store from my office. As you see I have fabric everywhere.

Quilt Nebraska 2009

Had a great time as usual at QuiltNebraska that was held in Lincoln on July 24-26. My auction quilt sold for $115. I was pleased. I did purchase a quilt that was made by Paulette Peters and Lois Gottsch. When I was on the board Paulette was the President and when I did QNE 89 Lois was the one that got the teachers. Lois did redwork embroidery and Paulette set it together and quilted it. It was the one quilt I really wanted to come home with! The picture is of my roomies. Lynn, Fay and Shirley. Lynn and I went to the first QNE in 86 and met Fay that year. We have roomed together every year except for the couple that Lynn and Fay missed. Shirley has been with us for several years now.

Happy Hollow came out with these Stick Creatures and thought they were so fun had to make each one. They come with a kit so you don't have to hunt for the embellishments and are sewn to fusible gird so uses up a lot of little scraps.

The summer is going so fast. Have been sewing baby quilts. Some are just different squares and some are panels that I added borders to the size. Our guild service project is meeting in July and we will tie them at that meeting. I have 12 sewn for them to work on. Also have two sewn for Linus project which is the Quilt Nebraska challenge this year. Those I have machine quilted and have them ready to take to Lincoln the end of July.

Have just finished the quilt for Quilt Nebraska Celebrity auction for July. It is called Teddy strolling with Mary. The bear paw represents Teddy Quilt Nebraska '86 and the blue fabric is from Mary Ghormley that she purchased at the Bancroft General Store in July 1987. It is machine pieced and hand quilted.

The quilt is about 21 inches square.

Well Shop Hop 2009 has passed. It was very busy with alot of hoppers out in this part of the state. Now trying to get caught up on sleep after being open for 105 1/2 hours in those long days. did get a new sample made so I could take down the yellow and black quilt that was made up in the shop hop block. Now need to get a quilt made for the Quilt Nebraska 2009 auction in July that needs to be done by June 1! Hopefully this will auction will meet the NSQG pledge to the IQSC. If you would like to go to www.nsqg.org to check out Quilt Nebraska. It is a fun time. First registration must be postmarked by May 15.
